This exhibition design follows a structure driven by a succession of themes, as imagined by the curator. The project starts from the reworking of the contents and furnishings presented in the exhibition (with the same title) created a year earlier at Warehouse 421 in Abu Dhabi. In the case of the Dubai project, the fundamental theme was how to set up an exhibition inside a space not intended for art (the HaiD3 in Dubai, a complex of temporary office buildings set up outside the Design District). The ground floor of the exhibition is dedicated to “tangible” themes, and hosts 7 display cases and an installation of burquas. All furnishings (raised display cases, plasterboard walls with integrated alcoves) are designed to secure their contents. The project seeks to accommodate, in specially designed furnishings, the extensive list of heterogeneous contents selected for the exhibition. At the same time, the project creates a new museum itinerary within an originally non-exhibition space.
